Scrapper's Edge

Every year on National Scrapbook Day, I teach a scrapbooking page class. And, I actually take a photos of the students completing their pages that I print and give to them so they can actually have a picture of themselves working on the page to put on the actual page! Fun, huh?

As you may know, some of us scrapbookers are a little "over the top" about things. Well, actually, what seems normal to us may not to others. For example, each year I have students who plan their wardrobes for the day based on the paper I use for the class. Makes great sense to me.

So, for all of you attending my class on May 1st . . . here's the sample page! We'll be using the Ppeachy Keen Collection from Kaisercraft. Happy wardrobe hunting!

Two cards in one hour! Can we do it? Of course!

On May 1st, National Scrapbook Day, from 11:30am-12:30am we're doing a "Flower Power" cardmaking class featuring Unity Stamps, Bazzill cardstock, American Crafts papers, buttons, rhinestones and more. Each participant will make two cards.

Creating on canvas is so much fun! Look what I did!

Starting with a canvas and just one thought in my head "Home Sweet Home" I created this fun piece. I started with painting the background with Ranger Studio acrylic paints. Then I made the fluffy clouds by layering Ranger Studio gesso and sprinking glitter while it was still wet. The house is made with layers of Making Memories papers, including a door embossed using the Cuttlebug.

Other things I used include: Making Memories rub-on letters, brads, clip & tag; Prima flowers; Darice rhinestones; and a Zig marker.

It was really fun to start without a definite plan and to just experiment and try different things. Then to step back, look for a while, have another idea surface, and try something else! Creating just for the sake of having fun is so enjoyable, rewarding and empowering . . . it's better than therapy anyday! : )

It's fun to be creative!

Today I decided to play in my craft room without a goal in mind. I didn't want to create store samples. I didn't want to plan for an upcoming class. I just wanted to play.

So, I broke out my melting pot and bees wax and decided to have fun. Starting with a blank canvas, decorative napkins, lace and a custom wine bottle label, I started creating a beeswax collage. Adding Ranger paint dabbers, Prima Flowers, and Tim Holtz' embellishments helped finish off my piece. Here it is . . . I hope you enjoy it!
